Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematics Teachers to work within a variety of Secondary Schools across Cardiff. These are flexible agency positions, offering both short-term and long-term opportunities, with immediate starts available. Full-time and part-time roles are available, making this an excellent opportunity for both Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and experienced teaching professionals looking for flexibility and variety in their work.

As a Mathematics Teacher, you will be expected to deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons that inspire students to develop both their theoretical understanding and practical application of mathematics. You will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential, develop confidence in their abilities, and foster a genuine interest in the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4, and where applicable, Key Stage 5.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments while maintaining high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Plan and adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and support pupil progress where required.
  • Uphold school policies and contribute positively to the wider school community.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised teaching qualification.
  • Specialism in Mathematics.
  • A passion for raising student achievement and attainment.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to keeping up to date with educational developments and curriculum changes.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • In possession of, or willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service.
