The school provides education for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of the students have experienced challenges in mainstream education and thrive in an environment where positive relationships, consistency and practical learning are at the heart of everything we do.
As the Construction Teacher, you will deliver engaging vocational learning programmes that inspire students, develop practical skills, raise aspirations and prepare them for further education, training and employment.

The Role
You will:
Plan and deliver high-quality construction lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Teach a range of practical construction skills, which may include carpentry, joinery, brickwork, painting and decorating, and general maintenance.
Develop and deliver accredited vocational qualifications where appropriate.
Create a safe, engaging and inclusive workshop environment.
Differentiate learning to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH and SEND.
Build positive relationships with pupils to support their engagement, attendance and progress.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral staff and families.
Promote employability skills, confidence, resilience and independence.
Ensure all workshop activities comply with health and safety requirements.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience of working within the construction industry and/or teaching construction skills.
Holds a relevant teaching qualification or is willing to work towards one.
Possesses a recognised qualification in a construction-related discipline.
Has experience working with young people, ideally those with SEMH needs.
Demonstrates excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
Is patient, empathetic and passionate about helping young people succeed.
Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
Can inspire students who may have previously disengaged from education.

Person Requirements
