New Directions Education is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bradford.

What We’re Looking For
We would love to hear from individuals who have:
Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
A strong understanding of behaviour management, positive reinforcement, and trauma-informed approaches.
Previous experience working within a school, care, youth work, residential, or similar setting.
The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and succeed both academically and emotionally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils who require additional assistance within the classroom and throughout the school day. Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral staff, you will help ensure pupils are engaged, supported, and able to access learning opportunities effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
Assist pupils in accessing classroom activities and adapting to the school environment.
Support the implementation of EHCP targets, individual learning plans, and behaviour support strategies.
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
Build strong relationships that promote confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
Use effective de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies when required.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupil progress.
Monitor and record pupil engagement, wellbeing, and achievement.
Promote an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
