New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a mainstream primary school in Cardiff.
This rewarding role involves working closely with a pupil who requires additional support to access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing consistent, tailored support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
Support the pupil’s academic progress through adapted activities
Implement strategies to support behaviour, focus, and emotional regulation
Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCo to follow individual support plans
Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction
Support transitions and daily classroom routines
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting
Experience supporting ALN/SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs) is highly desirable
A calm, patient, and proactive approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils
A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential
