Job Description

New Directions Education are one of the preferred suppliers to schools within Monmouthshire and we are extremely busy and looking to increase their bank of Design Technology Supply Teachers.

We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated, flexible, and committed Design Technology Teachers, to support secondary schools.

This role will require you to have basic Food Technology experience and to be confident enough to teach both areas of this field. The correct candidate should show enthusiasm and basic knowledge to alternate between Design and Food Technology within their setting.

The work available can be on long and short-term assignments, and you can manage your own diary/availability.

Job Specification

If you are a newly qualified teacher (NQT) or experienced Design Technology teacher, we offer roles which include delivering the curriculum in Key Stage 3 (KS3) to Key Stage 4 (KS4) with a possible work at Key Stage 5 (KS5).

As an Design Technology teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
