Job Description

New Directions are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Modern Foreign Languages teacher for a high achieving school in Shropshire. The school in question have an excellent reputation for achieving excellent results and are looking for a committed and passionate teacher to become a valued member of their team.

The successful applicant will have the ability to deliver Spanish up to Key Stage 4, the ability to teach up to Key Stage 5 would be an advantage but not essential. The ideal candidate will consistently demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the pupils in their care receive stimulating, challenging and effective lessons. You will have the ability to build a strong rapport with students and colleagues alike and work hard to ensure pupils progress is closely monitored so that any gaps in knowledge are effectively identified and the necessary support given.

If successful, you will be entering a friendly and supportive department who work hard for each other to deliver fantastic results. The school sets high expectations of it’s pupils in the way that they conduct themselves and looks to it’s faculty yo reinforce and maintain these standards on a daily basis.

Job Specification

The main languages taught by Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teachers include French, German, and Spanish. Other languages taught include Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu and Bengali. There’s a shortage of teachers available in these priority subjects and a high demand for high-calibre talent to take on the challenge.

As a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
