We’re recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across the Wirral from September 2026.
Whether you already have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or you’re looking to take on a rewarding new challenge using your transferable skills, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
Providing tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND within mainstream primary schools
Working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups
Supporting pupils’ learning, communication and emotional wellbeing
Encouraging confidence, independence and positive engagement in the classroom
Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs and other professionals to help pupils reach their full potential
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience supporting children with SEND is preferred
We also welcome applicants with transferable experience, including:
Care and support work
Residential care
Youth work
Childcare or nursery settings
Mental health support
Community or voluntary roles supporting children or vulnerable individuals
A patient, compassionate and proactive approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
