New Directions are seeking an experienced School Administrator in the Newport area, to provide integral office support to primary and secondary schools from September 2020.

The positions available are full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am – 4pm, term-time only. We are able to offer both long and short-term temporary roles, covering internal absences such as sickness and maternity. All applicants must be flexible and adaptable to the needs of each specific school.

Our clients are seeking applicants with an excellent knowledge of the School Information Management System (SIMS). Due to the nature of the roles being temporary, no training is provided. It is essential all applicants have previous experience working in the busy school office and are confident working independently, overseeing all daily duties.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced School Administrator to join us, to take on flexible work in the Newport area, whilst providing integral support to local schools.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of School Office Staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School Office Staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working within an educational setting.
