New Directions Education is currently recruiting for a SEND Primary Teacher for an excellent SEND School in the Trafford area. The ideal SEND Primary Teacher will have experience of teaching students with social, communication and sensory needs. Experience in a similar setting or a SEND class within a mainstream school is essential! The school is well staffed, resourced and small bespoke classes according to the needs of their pupils.
This role is ideally full-time though part-time hours will be considered.
Key Responsibilities of SEND Primary Teacher
• Teaching KS1-2 pupils with social, communication and sensory needs
• Teaching a range of subjects across the SEND primary curriculum
• Working with other teachers, support staff as well as outside agencies to ensure the highest level of teaching and learning for hard to reach students
• Planning, teaching and assessing across the curriculum
Personal Specification of SEND Primary Teacher
• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have a strong understanding of SEND Needs such as: social, communication and sensory needs
• Have at least a years experience working in SEND (SEND School, Specialist Provision or Mainstream School with SEND)
• Have a strong ability to forge relationships with pupils with a range of needs
• Have a strong understanding of behaviour management – through de-escalation techniques
