Job Description

We are working with a school for pupils with special needs aged 4-19, located in Chester. The school educates and cares for pupils with complex special educational needs.

The school has been graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

New Directions are actively seeking a dedicated SEN trained TA to join our team, to assist us in supporting this school. We are looking to register candidates ready for a September start – whether that be for day to day, full-time and or long-term roles with a view to going permanent for the right candidate.

The school:

  •  Support pupils with a range of severe physical, sensory, medical, and cognitive needs.
  • Known for its inclusive, nurturing approach and personalised learning pathways.
  • Facilities include sensory rooms, specialist equipment, and dedicated therapy spaces.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, where required.
  • Support sensory-based learning and communication using PECS, Makaton, and other specialist strategies.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with PMLD.
  • Experience in an SEN, care, or medical setting is welcomed but not essential.
  • We strongly encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds in care, the NHS, social work, sports coaching, or other sectors with transferable skills.
  • Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service, if not already done.
  • Must have employment references within the last 5 years
