New Directions are working with a 2-19 SEND provision in Harrogate that is currently looking for a special needs Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, temporary basis from September 2025, supporting students aged 2 – 19 with additional learning needs. The provision supports students with a variety of severe learning and physical disabilities, as well as medical and complex needs.
Experience of working with students who have complex and medical needs
Experience of working in a school environment supporting students with their education
Providing students with individualised learning plans
Monitoring and reporting student progress
Supporting students in developing their self-esteem and independence
Supporting qualified teachers to prepare lesson plans and organising materials for each lesson
Supporting teachers with organising and delivering learning activities
Creating a positive and engaging learning environment to meet individual needs
Following the correct school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management
Essential Skills
Previous experience of working with children and young adults with special needs
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Empathy and patience, and the ability to work as part of a team
