New Directions is working with a SEMH specific alternative provision (AP). The AP works with individuals within key stage 3 and 4 (11-19 years) who have faced or are currently facing extremely challenging personal circumstances. Young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges can struggle to regulate their emotions and behaviour. With this in mind, building trust and a strong rapport with individuals is key to creating positive working relationships, therefore, all staff need to be committed, reliable and dependable. This a full-time role, working 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
– Working with young people aged 11–19 years who are currently facing very challenging personal circumstances
– Build strong, positive and engaging relationships in order to motivate and encourage individuals to access their education
– Assist with the implementation of Personal Education Plans (PEPs), EHCP outcomes, and personalised learning programs
– Follow behaviour policies and behaviour management plans
Person Requirements
– Full-time availability (8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday)
– Experience of working with young people with challenging backgrounds
– Dependable and realiable – high personal attendance records
– Ability to understand and empathise with young people
– Ability to build strong and trusting relationships with young people
– Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in demanding situations
– Strong communication and teamwork skills
