Job Purpose
We are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD) in a specialist school setting.
This is a full-time role ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference and supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential in a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Support pupils aged 7–14 with ASC/ASD and associated needs
Work with students who may experience: Challenging behaviour
Sensory processing needs
Emotional dysregulation
Communication difficulties (including non-verbal pupils)
Provide 1:1 and small group support
Use structured approaches such as visual timetables and routine-based learning
Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals

Person Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with Autism or additional needs
Understanding of behaviour, sensory needs, and communication strategies
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two references covering at least 12 months

Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Must have relevant SEND experience, such as: Support work
Care work
Previous school-based experience
