Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within a specialist school in Great Barr.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and social interaction needs to access learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
  • Support communication and social development
  • Assist pupils with sensory regulation strategies
  • Work closely with teaching staff and therapists
  • Encourage engagement in classroom activities
  • Promote a structured and supportive learning environment

Person Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with autism
  • Calm, patient, and understanding nature
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two satisfactory references

Qualifications

No formal qualifications required

Relevant SEND experience required, including:

  • Care work
  • Support work
  • SEND school experience
