Job Purpose
We are seeking a resilient and motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist school environment in Castle Bromwich.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
Build positive and trusting relationships with students
Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Encourage engagement with education and classroom activities
Assist teachers in maintaining a structured learning environment
Promote pupil wellbeing, confidence, and independence
Person Requirements
Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
Resilient, patient, and proactive attitude
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references covering at least 12 months
Qualifications

Must have relevant experience, including: Youth work
