Job Purpose
We are currently recruiting for a nurturing and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) within a specialist school setting in Handsworth Wood.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with communication barriers and helping pupils develop confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions
Assist with communication strategies and structured learning activities
Encourage positive interaction and classroom engagement
Support emotional regulation and social development
Work closely with teachers and speech and language professionals
Promote a calm and inclusive classroom environment
Person Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND
Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience essential, including:
