Location: Penarth/Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Salary: £93.00 per day
Schedule: Monday– Friday 8.30pm – 3.30pm, term-time only
New Directions are recruiting specialist ALN support assistants, to work within day special school for pupils aged 3-19. This setting supports children and young people, with either severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), social emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs or autistic spectrum disorders (ASD).
Required:
Experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN), or a strong willingness to develop expertise in this area.
Understanding of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and the ability to support pupils through nurturing, structured and trauma-informed approaches.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high‑quality support and teaching, working with pupils in small groups as well as on a 1:1 basis across the curriculum.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong classroom practice, effective use of ICT, high expectations for pupil engagement and achievement, and a commitment to working collaboratively to provide the best opportunities for all learners.
