New Directions are seeking a Specialist Support Assistant to join an Outstanding School based in Aigburth providing high-quality education for pupils aged 11 to 19, many of whom have profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Our vision is to ensure that every young person experiences a nurturing, supportive, and challenging learning environment where they can build independence, develop communication skills, and grow in confidence.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic support assistants to join our dedicated team and work closely with pupils who have complex physical, sensory, and medical needs. The role is varied, rewarding, and requires a strong sense of empathy, teamwork, and commitment.
Job Specification
Have experience working with children, or adults, with additional needs
Provide tailored support to pupils with PMLD in both classroom and therapeutic settings.
Able to support children of all abilities.
Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning.
Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:
Have excellent communication skills.
Support pupils with personal care needs, including feeding, changing and toileting.
Be encouraging and supportive.
Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children development.
Maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all pupils
