New Directions Education are proud to be working alongside the largest schools in Rhondda Cynon Taff and are recruiting on their behalf, Student Teachers to work on a supply basis. As one of the preferred suppliers in the area, New Directions are seeking Student Teachers to work in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes either on a day to day supply basis or on a long-term basis which could lead to a permanent contract. Daily supply for a Student Teacher is great as you get to experience a variety of schools, get to know their ethos and will help you decide on where you would like to work in the future.

We also care about our candidates and offer a variety of CPD learning opportunities and host multiple webinars/seminars during the half term breaks. Some of these are Incidental Welsh, introduction to sign language, Assessment for Learning, Mindfulness and Wellbeing plus many more.

Student Teachers and NQT’s can also benefit from our newly launched NQT Support Programme where you will also have a dedicated NQT consultant, talks/webinars from the EWC and Central South Consortium as well as valuable advice from Head teacher’s on what to expect in your NQT year, Lesson Observation tips and CV/Cover letter advise.

Job Specification

We recruit newly qualified teachers (NQTs) for short and long-term teaching vacancies.

If you are looking for a teaching job in a school, whether you are trying to find a vacancy as a local primary or secondary teacher or eager to work in special educational needs (SEN), then New Directions would like to hear from you.

As a newly qualified teacher you’ll be expected to:

• Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
• Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
• Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
• Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
• Maintain discipline
• Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
• Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
• Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
• Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
• Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools
