New Directions Education is proud to be supporting a SEMH provision in Manchester that is looking to welcome a Teacher of Humanities from September 2025. The ideal subject specialist, will work across KS3/4 delivering History, Geography and Religious Education. This full-time, longer-term role could turn permanent for the right person.
The Role
• Teaching KS3/4 students with SEMH & Complex Needs
• Teaching History, Geography and Religious Education to GCSE
• Working with other teachers, support staff as well as outside agencies to ensure the highest level of teaching and learning for hard to reach students
• Planning, teaching and assessing across the curriculum

The Candidate
• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Humanities specialism (in History or Geography)
• Have at least a year’s experience working in SEMH (Alternative Provision, SEMH School, PRU or Mainstream School)
• Have a strong ability to forge relationships with pupils that are hard to reach
• Have a strong understanding of behaviour management – through de-escalation techniques
