A caring and inclusive primary school in South Liverpool is looking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils in EYFS and Key Stage 1. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to support primary-aged children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Many of the pupils are non-verbal and require high levels of tailored support, including personal care, sensory-based learning and communication support.
The Role
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
• Support non-verbal pupils using alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton, visual aids)
• Assist with sensory learning activities and personalised learning programmes
• Support with personal care and mobility where required
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
• Help to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience working with children with PMLD, complex needs or in a specialist setting
• Patient, nurturing and attentive approach
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification desirable but not essential
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
