New Directions Education is looking for compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistants to support learners with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in mainstream primary schools, secondary schools and specialist provisions across Harrogate. What We’re Looking For
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and therapeutic behaviour strategies.
Training in Team-Teach or other positive behaviour management techniques.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners.
Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to help children regulate emotions.
Your Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers to ensure every child feels included and supported. You’ll provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, helping children engage with learning and develop emotional resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Support children in across various Key Stages with SEMH needs.
Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
Collaborate with teachers and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
