Teaching Assistant, Year 2 & 5, Wirral

Job Description

We are working with a primary school in Birkenhead seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to two pupils within the school day.

This is a rewarding but demanding role that requires someone confident, proactive and experienced in supporting pupils with additional needs.

The Role:

• Morning: 1:1 support with a Year 5 pupil
• Afternoon: 1:1 support with a Year 2 pupil
• Supporting pupils to remain engaged in lessons and access learning
• Implementing strategies to support behaviour and focus
• Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to ensure consistent support

Essential Experience:

• Previous school-based TA or LSA experience
• Experience supporting children with ADHD
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with pupils
• A proactive approach and ability to follow guidance from teaching staff

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

• NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
• NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
• Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
• Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
• Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
