Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a child in Reception at a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Bootle.

About the Role:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Reception who requires additional help with learning, communication, or social interaction.
  • Support the child throughout the school day, helping them to settle into the classroom routine and engage with Early Years activities.
  • Encourage the child’s confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing through patient, consistent support.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other staff to follow tailored strategies that meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Assist with basic personal care if required (e.g. toileting or handwashing), with guidance and support provided.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Willing to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide employment references from the last five years.
