Job Description

New Directions Education are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Trainee Teaching Assistant to join an Outstanding SEND school in Runcorn. This full-time, long-term position offers a fantastic chance for individuals eager to begin or progress their career in SEND education. We warmly welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including care, coaching, health, psychology, as well as those with prior experience in school settings. Comprehensive online training will be provided to help you develop the necessary skills for success.

The Role:

• Helping pupils stay engaged with tasks, manage transitions effectively, and build independence.
• Working closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, child-centred support.

The Ideal Candidate:
• Individuals from care, coaching, health, psychology, or related professions are warmly encouraged to apply.
• Previous experience working in schools or supporting children with additional needs is welcomed but not essential.
• Displays patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for helping children with complex needs.
• Eager to learn and complete full online training to grow knowledge and confidence in the role.
• Possesses strong communication skills and works well within a team.
• Able to provide employment references from the past five years.
• Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
