New Directions are currently looking to recruit Cover Supervisors to work within Secondary schools situated throughout the Flintshire area on a supply basis.
As the preferred supplier within the Flintshire area, we would be able to provide a wide variety of placements in Welsh Medium Secondary schools.
As a Cover
Supervisor, you would need to provide general cover for a variety of classes
covering day to day sickness and courses. We are looking for individuals who
can deliver the planned work which has been provided by the Teacher to ensure
that all pupils are working to the best of their ability.
This role
would be ideal for any aspiring Teachers who are looking to gain experiences
and all though a qualification within the educational field would be
beneficial, it is not essential. However previous experience of working with
children in any environment is needed.
Job Specification
Working as a cover supervisor can be extremely rewarding but also very demanding. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.
As a cover supervisor you will be expected to:
Undertake whole class supervision in the absence of the class teacher, setting work previously prepared by the teacher
Develop curricular knowledge as required by the school
Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class teacher/head teacher
Set homework previously prepared by the teacher
Mark elements of class work and homework under the guidance of the class teacher
Undertake observations of the pupils and contribute to pupil records
Administer (and mark) class tests
Supervise the work of the teaching assistant
Abide by and work towards all the policies within the school e.g. behaviour management, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities
Carry out the above duties in accordance with the Children’s Services Department’s Equal Opportunities Policy
