New Directions works alongside schools in Swansea and is recruiting Welsh Language Medium (WLM) Woodwind Music Teachers to provide ad hoc instrumental tuition. This flexible role is ideal for skilled musicians looking for work that fits around their existing commitments.
A formal teaching qualification is not required; however, applicants must demonstrate a high level of proficiency on one or more woodwind instruments and be confident delivering lessons through the medium of Welsh.
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and inspiring musicians who can engage and motivate pupils of all ages and abilities. Successful candidates will deliver high-quality woodwind lessons, adapt their teaching to meet individual learning needs, encourage musical development and confidence, and foster a lifelong enjoyment of music. This is an ad hoc position, with work offered on a flexible, as-needed basis in schools across Swansea. This is an adhoc role between the times of 8:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday.
Job Specification
To be considered for this role, you will need:
A high level of proficiency on one or more woodwind instruments.
The ability to deliver instrumental tuition through the medium of Welsh.
Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring young people is desirable but not essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A passion for inspiring young people through music.
A flexible and reliable approach, with the ability to work on an ad hoc basis.
An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register before starting work.
The right to work in the UK.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as travel between schools in Swansea may be required.
