Job Description

New Directions Education are currently seeking a qualified Primary Teacher for a Year 3 Class in a Swansea City Centre Primary School. The position will commence in September and will be up until the October half term in the first instance. The school are seeking a full time teacher although time will be set aside for your Planning, Preparing and Assessing (PPA). The successful applicant will be joining a creative and driven Key Stage 2 Department who constantly encourage pupils to surpass their personal best. You will need to be focused and committed to the department to ensure your pupils achieve their goals. 

We welcome applicants who:

  • Have gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC);
  • Have specialised within Key Stage 2 or have relevant experience with this age range;
  • Can confidently plan and delegate a daily routine for the Learning Support Assistant within the classroom;
  • Are either Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT’s) or experienced classroom practitioners.

The school seek applicants who would be confident in transitioning the pupils into Key Stage 2 and implementing the new expectations. The successful applicant will have a Learning Support Assistant within the classroom that will be able to work with groups requiring extra encouragement. You will be required to attend departmental and planning meetings on a weekly basis to ensure that there is consistency in approach. The school and New Directions Education will be providing free training courses for you such as Child Safeguarding, to help your career development.

Job Specification

Your role as a Key Stage 2 (KS2) Primary Teacher in the age group of your speciality will be varied and at times challenging. But we doubt you’ll find a more satisfying career where your main objectives will be to develop the children and prepare them for the next stage.

As a Primary School Key Stage 2 Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
