New Directions Education attend the Urdd Eisteddfod

The Urdd Nation Eisteddfod was held 27th May – 1st of June, New Direction Education attended the event during Whitsun half term. The Urdd Eisteddfod is one of Europe’s biggest youth touring festivals that attracts around 100,000 visitors each year,

The Eisteddfod was in Pembrokeshire in a small village of Boncath. Over 15,000 children and young people competed during the week in various competitions such as singing, dancing and performing. These are the elite few, from around 40,000 competitors across Wales, who have won their place following local and regional rounds.

The 1,800 seated pavilion, where all the competitions are held, is the hub of the Eisteddfod but surrounding the pavilion there are around 200 colourful stalls from craft to universities NTU, GTCW and New Directions were part of the exhibitors having a stand also there was a range of activities for the family – from biking, climbing and sport sessions to a fun fair, live bands and celebrity children’s shows.

Well the Bank Holiday Monday it didn’t stop raining and the wellies were needed however by the end of the week the weather decided to change and the sun was shining, the sun cream was needed. It was a fantastic week, the children loved the balloons, it was great to meet with our staff, supply teachers and class room assistance, schools and of course new candidates who registered looking for supply work .
