Teaching Assistant – Classroom & SEN Support (Primary School, Stockport)

We are currently seeking a reliable and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Stockport.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide both general classroom support and targeted assistance to pupils with Special Educational Needs. This is a varied role, ideal for someone confident supporting across the classroom while also delivering one-to-one or small group SEN support when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support across lessons and activities
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support learning, engagement, and independence for all pupils
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation where needed
  • Help implement individual support strategies and learning plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous classroom experience in a primary school setting (essential)
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN (essential)
  • A flexible, proactive, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different year groups and pupil needs
  • Relevant qualifications or TA training desirable
