About the Role
New Directions Education are currently recruiting for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work within Specialist Resource Bases (SRBs) across Cardiff.
SRBs provide tailored support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). As an SRB Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them access learning in a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the SRB setting
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and independence skills
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with ALN/SEN
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
