Job Purpose
We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) within a welcoming and supportive specialist school in Perry Barr.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs access education, develop independence, and thrive within a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties and additional needs
Deliver 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day
Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
Support personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs
Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

Person Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND or additional needs
Patient, caring, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references covering at least 12 months

Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Must have some SEND-related experience, including: Care work
Support work
School-based experience
