Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting a resilient and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming primary school in the Sandbach area. This is a full-time role supporting a Key Stage 1 student who requires additional support with behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.

The school is a community-focused and nurturing setting with a strong emphasis on inclusion, positive relationships, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support for children with additional needs, creating a supportive environment where all pupils are encouraged to succeed both academically and personally.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 student with challenging behaviour
• Supporting the student to engage positively with learning and classroom routines
• Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student
• Supporting emotional regulation and social development
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral staff
• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting a safe learning environment
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children with behavioural or additional needs (desirable)
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
