A mainstream primary school in the south of the city has an urgent requirement for a qualified early years specialist teaching assistant. The member of staff must have a level 3 qualification such as a Diploma in Childcare and Education or other similar relatable qualification. And must also hold a valid Level 3 Paediatric First Aid certificate.
This small, one form entry primary school comprises of the Early Years Foundation Stage classes (nursery and reception) Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2; priding itself on their strong community spirit and involvement.
The Early Years Teaching Assistant (EYFS TA) will work within the nursery and reception classes. Supporting children aged 3 to 5 years to access their learning through activities designed to progress their development through the EYFS curriculum. Free-flowing through arts and crafts, outdoor activities and small world imaginative play the children learn to understand the world around them and begin to take account of their emotions as well as their friend’s emotions.
Key Responsibilities
Scaffolding the learning and development of young children aged 3 to 5 years, working within ratio at all times
Encouraging and engaging in play and conversations around the curriculum
Setting up and carrying out activities in line with the teacher’s planning
Evaluating children’s engagement and learning including entries into the children’s Early Years Developmental Journals
Person Requirements
Level 3 Qualification in Children and Education or another equivalent and relatable qualification
Valid Level 3 Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Passion for Early Childhood play and learning
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of two years
