Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA – Autism Support)

Location Great Barr, Birmingham – B43
Contract Type Full-time, Monday to Friday (ONLY APPLY IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME) 8:30am – 3:30pm Term-time only
Pay £92.45 – £95 per day £462.25 – £475 per week Weekly pay
Job Purpose We are currently looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within a specialist school in Great Barr.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and social interaction needs to access learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
Support communication and social development
Assist pupils with sensory regulation strategies
Work closely with teaching staff and therapists
Encourage engagement in classroom activities
Promote a structured and supportive learning environment
Person Requirements
Experience supporting individuals with autism
Calm, patient, and understanding nature
Strong behaviour management skills
Excellent communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant SEND experience required, including:
Care work
Support work
SEND school experience
