Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a resilient and supportive SEND Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist setting in Handsworth.

This rewarding role involves helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support

  • Provide individual and classroom-based support
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support behaviour regulation strategies
  • Encourage emotional resilience and confidence
  • Work alongside teaching and pastoral teams
  • Promote a safe and nurturing environment

Person Requirements

  • Experience supporting challenging behaviour or SEMH
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Patient and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two satisfactory references

Qualifications

No formal qualifications required

Relevant experience required, including:

  • Youth work
  • Support work
  • SEND school experience
