Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA – Severe Learning Difficulties)

Age Range of Pupils 4 to 19 years
Location Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham – B74
Contract Type Full-time, Monday to Friday (ONLY APPLY IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME) 8:30am – 3:30pm Term-time only
Pay £92.45 – £95 per day £462.25 – £475 per week Weekly pay
Job Purpose We are currently looking for a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) within a specialist school in Sutton Coldfield.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and learning needs to achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Provide 1:1 and classroom-based support
Assist with communication and sensory activities
Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes
Encourage independence and life skills development
Work alongside teachers and therapists
Promote a positive and inclusive environment
Person Requirements
Experience supporting individuals with SEND
Caring and patient nature
Strong communication skills
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant SEND experience required, including:
Care work
Support work
SEND school experience
