A mainstream primary school in Kings Norton is looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) to work in their resource base to support children’s development and engagement in their education. The school is proud to have recently been graded Good in all areas by Ofsted who also graded their leadership and management as Outstanding. The school is proud in its ability to ensure all children are supported to reach their full potential.
The SEND TA will work on a 1 to 1 or small group basis within the resource hub, supporting children with varying SEND needs such as Autism, Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and emotional and behavioural dysregulation. With this in mind, qualifications are not required but previous experience of supporting children with SEND is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting primary age students (7-11 years) with varying SEND, including Autism, Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and emotional and behavioural dysregulation
Working on a 1 to 1 and/or small group basis, following the timetable and planning provided by the teacher, ensuring proper engagement with all activities
Building strong relationships with children to enable engagement in their learning and continued personal development
Providing feedback to pupils and teachers
Person Requirements
Experience in supporting children with SEND, including Autism, Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and emotional and behavioural dysregulation
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of two years
