About the Role

New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Walmley.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting a child throughout the school day, helping them engage with learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
  • Follow and implement strategies outlined within the pupil’s individual support plan
  • Encourage communication, independence and positive social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting children with Autism or other SEND needs
  • Patient, caring and nurturing in their approach
  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with children and staff
  • In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
  • Able to provide two satisfactory professional references

Experience

No formal qualifications are required; however, relevant experience is essential.
