New Directions Education is one of the preferred suppliers to schools across Monmouthshire, and due to continued demand, we are looking to expand our bank of Welsh-speaking Secondary Teachers to teach Welsh in English-medium schools.

We have long-term and short-term, full-time and part-time opportunities available. You will be based in secondary schools, supporting pupils aged 11–18 years.

To be considered for a role with New Directions, you must:

  • Have a genuine passion for teaching.
  • Be able to teach Welsh (all subject specialisms also considered).
  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Be able to teach Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to obtain one).
  • Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs/ECTs) are encouraged to apply.

Job Specification

Whether you are a newly qualified teacher or an experienced Welsh teacher, we offer rewarding opportunities delivering the Welsh curriculum across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 (KS5) where appropriate.

As a Welsh Teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Teach Welsh across the secondary curriculum or within your subject specialism.
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that meet the needs of learners of all abilities.
  • Inspire and motivate pupils through creative and enthusiastic teaching.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management and behaviour.
  • Assess, monitor and record pupils’ progress in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider school community.
