New Directions Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to work across secondary schools in the Leeds area. Due to increasing demand from our partner schools, we also have opportunities for successful candidates to undertake general cover teaching when Food Technology-specific lessons are not required, providing greater flexibility and consistent work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys building relationships with students, delivering engaging lessons, and working within a variety of school settings.

The Role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Teach practical cooking skills, nutrition, food science, and food hygiene.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Assess and monitor student progress.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed within practical lessons.
• Inspire students to develop confidence, creativity, and essential life skills.

In addition, when required, you will have the opportunity to:

• Provide general cover across secondary subjects.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
• Maintain positive classroom behaviour and engagement.
• Gain experience across a range of departments and educational settings.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for teachers who have:

– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
– Experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school environment.
– Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
– The confidence to deliver general cover lessons across the curriculum when required.
– Excellent communication and organisational skills.
– A flexible, professional, and positive attitude.
