Job Description

New Directions Education is looking to register enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematics Teachers to work on a supply basis in secondary schools across Monmouthshire. We work closely with local schools to support their staffing needs and welcome applications from teachers who are looking for day-to-day, short-term or long-term supply work.

Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced Maths Teacher, we would love to hear from you. Working through New Directions offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a range of school settings while making a positive impact on students’ learning.

As a Maths Teacher, you will be expected to deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons that inspire students to develop both their theoretical understanding and practical application of mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate. You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential, develop confidence in their mathematical abilities, and enjoy learning.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school setting.
  • A passion for raising student achievement and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with students, colleagues and school staff.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to keeping up to date with curriculum developments and best teaching practices.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
