This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual pupil, supporting their educational and personal development throughout the school day. You will collaborate with class teachers and SENCOs to ensure the pupil receives the support they need to succeed.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEN
Assisting with learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
Supporting the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans
Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence
Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
A patient, caring, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs
A positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting children
Experience within a primary school setting is desirable but not essential
