Primary Teaching Assistant, Cheshire West and Chester

Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for primary schools across Chester and the surrounding areas, with a range of flexible, short-term and long-term opportunities available.

These roles are ideal for enthusiastic and caring individuals who enjoy supporting children with their learning and development. We welcome applications from candidates with previous school experience, as well as those with transferable experience working with children in childcare, youth work or similar settings.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:

• Supporting teachers with the day-to-day running of the classroom
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students
• Helping students access learning activities and develop new skills
• Supporting students with a range of abilities and additional needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Assisting with classroom preparation and learning resources
• Building positive relationships with students and school staff
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people
• A relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification would be beneficial
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with students
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• A reliable and professional approach
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide appropriate professional references.
