New Directions Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Classroom Assistants to support primary schools in the Harrogate area. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on children’s learning and development.
About the Role
As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both teachers and pupils on a daily basis. This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. Responsibilities may include:
-Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons across subjects such as literacy, numeracy, and phonics
-Working with small groups to reinforce learning, helping pupils to understand key concepts and complete tasks
-Providing one-to-one support for pupils who may need additional guidance, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs) or EAL (English as an Additional Language)
-Assisting with classroom organisation, including preparing learning materials, setting up activities, and maintaining a tidy learning environment
-Promoting positive behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy, encouraging engagement and participation
-Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the teacher on achievement and areas for improvement
-Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independence
-Assisting during break times, school trips, or extracurricular activities where required
-Adapting your approach to meet the needs of different year groups, from EYFS through to Key Stage 2
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, building strong relationships with pupils, and contributing to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
