Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a motivated and engaging Humanities Teacher to work within a secondary school in Wrexham from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher to deliver inspiring lessons across the Humanities curriculum, helping students develop critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world around them. The successful candidate will have strong classroom management skills, excellent subject knowledge, and the ability to engage learners across Key Stages 3 and 4. Job Specification

New Directions have on-going supply teaching jobs for Humanities Teachers in all areas. These positions are available for qualified teachers who can teach Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4) and possibly Key Stage 5 (KS5).

Newly qualified teachers (NQTs) looking for teaching work should also apply.

The Humanities Teacher role may require teaching of the following subjects: art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language and English literature, history, modern languages, music, philosophy, sociology and religious studies.

This role has a focus on personal and social development and pastoral care. If you have an interest in all things anthropological, a humanities teaching post may be the right role for you.

As a Humanities Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Hold QTS status
  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
