Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-established pre-school in Birkenhead, who are looking for a caring and reliable Pre-school Assistant to join their team.

Location: Birkenhead
Hours: Fridays only, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing
Qualification: Minimum Level 2 Early Years or equivalent required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the daily running of the playgroup environment
  • Engaging with children through play and learning activities
  • Assisting with snack times, toileting, and general care needs
  • Working closely with other staff to maintain a safe, nurturing space
  • Supporting children’s development in line with EYFS guidelines

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Level 2 (or above) qualification in Early Years/Education
  • Someone reliable, friendly, and confident with young children
  • Experience in a nursery, playgroup, or similar early years setting
  • A positive attitude and commitment to supporting children’s development

Job Specification

Every day you’ll be assisting in teaching language, literacy and numeracy, helping the class reach the early learning goals of the national curriculum, along with encouraging good behaviour.

Aside from working with the children, the role also involves setting up and tidying away all activities, analysing and recording each child’s progress and talking about it with their parents/carers.
