Psychology Graduate – Teaching Assistant Roles – Cheshire East
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £88.92 – £95 per day (dependent on level of experience)

New Directions Education is seeking enthusiastic Psychology Graduates to work across multiple primary schools in Cheshire East.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to apply their understanding of child development, learning psychology, and emotional wellbeing in a practical classroom setting. Candidates can be full-time or part-time but must be able to commit to the set hours of 8:30am – 4:00pm during term time.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils, applying knowledge of child development and psychology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Support teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapt resources for different learning needs.
  • Assist pupils with SEND / SEN and emotional wellbeing, promoting confidence and resilience.
  • Contribute to assessment, progress tracking, and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure effective interventions.
  • Use psychology-informed strategies to support behaviour management and promote positive learning environments.
  • Be flexible, proactive, and adaptable to meet the needs of the classroom and individual learners.

What We’re Looking For

  • Recent Psychology Graduate or equivalent qualification.
  • Interest in applying psychological theory in a practical, educational setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and adaptable approach, with a focus on pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;

  • NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
  • NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
