School Maintenance Person, Swansea

Job Description

New Directions Education are recruiting for a School Maintenance person, to cover temporary positions in schools in the following areas-

• Neath Port Talbot
• Swansea
• Carmarthenshire
• Pembrokeshire

The roles available are long and short-term temporary, covering internal staff absences such as sickness or maternity.

The working hours can vary depending on each schools’ specific requirements. You will usually be required to work split-shifts, such as 7am – 11am and 3pm – 6pm. You also may often required to work during school holidays.

You are responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance and security of the grounds and premises. Experience in maintenance, trades work, health and safety and construction is highly sort after.

The duties include:

• General maintenance and minor repairs
• Liaising with contractors
• Managing heating and alarm systems
• Security
• Opening and closing the school
• Basic cleaning
• Key holding.

You must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.

Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.

It’s mandatory that school maintenance persons’ have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
