We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and nurturing team based in Skelmersdale. You will work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills within a positive and inclusive environment. As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external agencies to provide tailored support that helps pupils overcome barriers to learning. You will play a key role in promoting independence, confidence, and wellbeing while ensuring every pupil feels valued, respected, and supported.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of SEND needs.
Support teachers with differentiated and engaging learning activities.
Help students with their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, social development and independence.
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
Build strong, positive relationships with students.
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and other learning difficulties.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable.
Patient, caring and proactive approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
